Pupillary distance can be measured using a pupillary ruler or a pupilometer to get accurate results.
1. Pupil distance measuring method: place the pupil distance ruler horizontally in front of the patient’s eyes, close to the root of the patient’s nose, and ask the patient to look at the distant scene directly in front of the patient’s eyes, and the zero point of the pupil distance ruler is aligned with the center of the patient’s pupil in the right eye, and then read the scale on the ruler corresponding to the center of the pupil of the left eye, and then the pupil distance will be obtained.
2. Pupil distance meter measurement method: the eyepiece of the pupil distance meter will be close to the patient’s eyes in front of the patient’s eyes, let the patient’s eyes stare at the focusing point in the pupil distance meter, the doctor adjusts the knob on the pupil distance meter from the observation window, so that the reflection point on the cornea of the patient’s eyes is located in the center of the pupil, and then read out the value on the knob which is the pupil distance.
Pupillary distance is a very important parameter when fitting glasses. Patients who want to get the accurate pupillary distance can go to the ophthalmology department of the hospital and have it measured by the doctor.
