What if you fall on the back of your head?

Most patients who fall on the back of the head will have different degrees of headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and other symptoms. At this time, it is necessary to perform a cranial CT examination, if the CT shows that there is no intracranial hemorrhage and no fracture of the skull, then take bed rest and close observation. If the patient’s headache worsens, vomiting is obvious, accompanied by different degrees of consciousness disorder, manifested as drowsiness, lethargy, or even coma, etc., it is necessary to go to the hospital immediately for review, and perform a cranial CT to exclude whether there is any delayed hemorrhage in the cranium. If there is intracranial hemorrhage found in the CT examination after the injury, it is necessary to be hospitalized immediately, and if the amount of bleeding is small, it is necessary to carry out medication for conservative treatment, and it is necessary to closely observe the patient’s spirit and pupil changes in the process of conservative treatment. If the patient’s mental state changes from wakefulness to coma, or even pupil dilatation, it is necessary to immediately review the head CT, it is likely that the intracranial hemorrhage has increased.
