Cough due to chemotherapy for lung cancer is mostly due to internal heat, blood stasis and deficiency of qi and yin, which can be categorized as heatiness of lung meridian, internal obstruction of blood stasis and deficiency of lung and kidney, and can be treated by pressing and kneading points of Lung Yu and Taiyuan, Neiguan and Diaphragm Yu, Qihai and Kidney Yu, respectively.
1. Lung meridian heat syndrome: the main manifestations are cough, spitting and vomiting, chest pain and chest tightness, fever, heartburn, dry mouth and tongue, hoarse voice. You can press and knead Lung Yu, Taiyuan, Shakuzawa, Fenglong, Kongmu, Yuzhi and Sanyinjiao points, and the pressure should be slightly soreness and distension in the local area.
2. Blood stasis and internal obstruction: the main manifestations are cough, chest tightness, stabbing pain in the chest and ribs, vomiting and spitting of blood stasis, and purple and dark tongue with petechiae. You can press and knead Taichong, Lung Yu, Blood Sea, Foot Sanli, Diaphragm Yu, Neiguan points, and the pressure should be slightly soreness and distension in the local area.
3. Lung and kidney deficiency: the main manifestations are coughing and wheezing, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the day, aggravated by sweating with slight movement), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, sweating stops after waking up), laziness, coldness (cold body), cold limbs, or dry cough, dry pharynx, and lumbago and weakness of the legs. One can press and knead Lung Yu, Anointing and Curing Point, Qihai, Kidney Yu, Foot Sanli, Taixi, Spleen Yu and Fuxiao Points, and the strength of pressure should be slightly soreness and distension in the local area.
