We often hear people mention that we need to nourish Yang, strengthen Yang, and support Yang, so what exactly is Yang Qi, and is it the same as Kidney Qi? What does it do for us? Why do we need to replenish Yang Qi? First of all, we should know what is qi? Qi is the source of matter in the world, the body is full of Qi everywhere, according to the distribution and characteristics, it can be divided into five Qi: Yuan Qi, Zong Qi, Ying Qi, Wei Qi and Zhong Qi, which are collectively called Yang Qi. In the thousands of years of Chinese medicine culture, Yin refers to the human body and Yang refers to the energy of the human body. A person’s life is a process of Yang Qi decay. As the ancients said, the tangible body is a dead body, but the dead body becomes a living body by the use of the true qi; the life of a person is a word of fire, the true qi is the root of life, and the fire is also the seed. Yang Qi is the real Qi, stored in the kidney, which is what we call Yuan Qi, often said that the Yuan Qi is greatly injured, that is, injured Yang Qi. In the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, it is said that “Yang transforms into qi and yin into form.” Yang is transformed into the energy needed by the body, and yin is formed into a visible and tangible body. If the body is devoid of Yang Qi, it becomes an empty shell and will die. In the Huangdi Nei Jing – Su Wen, it is said that “Yang is the body’s ability to defend itself against external evil, and this ability is Yang Qi. The ancients compared Yang Qi to the relationship between the sky and the sun, if there is no sun in the sky, then the earth is dark and unknown, and everything cannot grow. Therefore, the sun is necessary for the operation of heaven and earth. And the personal Yang Qi must be harmonized in order to consolidate its protective function, otherwise it will invite the invasion of disease and evil. The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine says: “Yang Qi is like the sky and the sun, and if it loses its place, it will lose its life and not manifest.” Therefore, the conservation of Yang Qi is the basis of health care and disease treatment. The growth of people is dominated by Yang Qi: the generation of essence, blood and fluids are all made by Yang Qi. “Therefore, Yang Qi determines growth. In terms of function and form, Yang Qi refers to function; in terms of the function of the internal organs, it refers to the Qi of the six internal organs; in terms of the Qi of Ying and Wei, it refers to the Qi of Wei; in terms of the direction and nature of movement, the Yang Qi is the one that travels on the outside, upward, hyperactive, enhanced, and light and clear. “Yang qi is the essence that nourishes the spirit, and the softness that nourishes the tendons.” Sources of Yang Qi There are two sources of Yang Qi: one is congenital, coming from the father and mother, and the other is acquired, mainly from the transformation of water and grain essence absorbed from food. The normal functioning of the human organism, work, exercise, sex life, mood swings, adaptation to temperature changes, repair of trauma and other activities all require the consumption of Yang Qi. Yang energy is the driving force of the body’s material metabolism and physiological functions, and is the determining factor of human reproduction, growth, development, aging and death. Yang energy is needed to support the normal survival of human beings, as the saying goes: “Those who get Yang energy are alive, those who lose Yang energy are dead”. “The more sufficient Yang energy, the stronger the body will be. If Yang Qi is not enough, people will get sick. If Yang Qi is completely depleted, the person will die. It has the function of warming the tissues of the whole body and maintaining the functions of the internal organs. A deficiency of Yang Qi results in weakened and declining physiological activities, leading to a decrease in the body’s ability to protect itself from cold. The Nei Jing – Ling Shu states, “When a person reaches forty, Yang Qi is insufficient. The loss and the day arrive.” It means that as one grows older, one’s yang energy will gradually be depleted. Preserve yang energy and benefit yin essence. It is an important principle of TCM health and rehabilitation to preserve yang energy and benefit yin essence. All things are born from Yang, and all things die from Yang. The growth, strength and aging of human beings are all dominated by Yang Qi: the generation of essence, blood and fluid are all transformed by Yang Qi: therefore, “Yang is strong to live, Yang is weak to die”, so we must nourish Yang. But those who are good at nurturing health must treasure their essence. Because the essence is abundant, then the qi is strong, the qi is strong, then the god is whole, then the god is whole, then the body is healthy. For those who have a serious loss of yang energy, they should often moxibustion Guan Yuan, Guilai, Zhengmen and Kidney Yu. In the project of Chinese medicine for treating the untreated diseases in China in cooperation with the World Health Organization, moxibustion to help Yang has achieved obvious results in the prevention and treatment of sub-healthy people. In particular, for Yang deficiency, a series of sub-health states, experiments have proved that moxibustion is effective for Yang deficiency, the word “Fu” in “Fu Yang”, Qing. Ruan Yuan explained: “help also”, “protect also”, “cure also”, meaning “help” has the meaning of help, protection, regulation governance. And the word “Fu Yang” itself has the meaning of promoting, protecting, warming and regulating Yang Qi, so that the body’s Yang Qi can be promoted and strengthened. Modern people often experience weakness, mental fatigue, insomnia, forgetfulness, irritability and other sub-health symptoms due to the severe pressure of work and life, or all their own bad habits, and some women even enter menopause earlier than forty. These diseases are all caused by excessive consumption of Yang Qi. How is Yang Qi consumed? Due to factors such as exercise, thinking, exertion and mental exhaustion, our Yang Qi is unconsciously consumed little by little. The cause of Yang Qi deficiency is that the amount of Yang Qi consumed exceeds the amount of Yang Qi replenished, resulting in a lower total amount of Yang Qi than is needed to maintain normal functioning. Clinical symptoms The most direct manifestation of Yang Qi deficiency is the body’s inability to maintain a constant temperature, which is normally manifested by a decrease in the basal body temperature, resulting in a slowing of Qi and blood flow, a decrease in the body’s material metabolism and physiological functions, and a failure to discharge some pathological products (such as phlegm, blood stasis, stones, etc.) and foreign substances (such as wind, cold, and dampness) in a timely manner, resulting in stagnation of disease. If Yang Qi is slightly deficient, the body can basically maintain its functions, but people will have various uncomfortable symptoms such as obesity, cold hands and feet, back pain and so on. If the degree of Yang deficiency increases, the body’s basic body temperature will drop further and the blockage will become more serious in some old diseases, old injuries or congenital defects, resulting in obvious physiological malfunction of these parts, which will be manifested externally as a certain part of the disease due to the different locations and degrees of blockage. Cancers are only more severely blocked. For example, patients with hepatitis, cirrhosis and liver cancer all have blockages in the liver on their pulse, but the degree of blockage deepens one after another. Cancer can be referred to as a “cold clotting disease.” The principle of treatment is to “replenish yang energy, expel yin evil”, enhance the function of the five viscera and six internal organs, and strengthen the body’s ability to heal itself, so that when yang energy is sufficient and the six veins are calm, all diseases will be cured and the body will recover. The characteristics of moxibustion to regulate Yang Qi: Xuan Tong is for Yang Qi is depressed, the operation is not smooth, warm tonic is for Yang Qi deficiency, loss of warmth and strength, the two are different, but the clinical pathology is complex, poor operation, and loss of warmth and strength are often two aspects of Yang Qi pathology. Therefore, in treatment, we should pay attention to the connection between the two aspects of mutual assistance, so that the promotion of Yang Qi to make Yang Qi run smoothly can promote and play the function of Yang Qi, such as pungent warmth to remove the surface of the evil, to promote Yang Qi, so that the Wei-Yang and Ying-Yin can be reconciled; warm and strong Yang Qi can also promote the activity of Yang Qi, such as warming Yang Qi, gas, water, so that Yang Qi flourishes. Yang Qi plays a role in warming the internal organs and nourishing the muscles and bones of the human body, just as sunlight shines on everything so that plants can photosynthesize and grow strong. Yang energy is the energy needed to maintain the normal metabolism of human life, and it is a process of gradually decaying and depleting from weak to strong throughout a person’s life. If you have enough Yang energy, you will be healthy; if you have weak Yang energy, you will be weak; if you have no Yang energy, you will die. Therefore, Yang energy determines the health and life of a person. The purpose of moxibustion is to replenish the Yang energy consumed daily, so that the body can reach a balanced state of Yin and Yang, and the vitality of people can be more vigorous. The mugwort used in moxibustion is a purely yang plant, and after burning, it has a stronger effect, which is the best way to replenish yang energy and prolong life. Moxibustion is the most effective way to replenish yang energy in the body. Dou Cai, a famous medical practitioner in the Song Dynasty, likened himself to the regeneration of Bian Magpie, and his medical book “Bian Magpie Heart Book” focused on advocating the support of Yang. He believed that there were three methods to help Yang since ancient times: the first was moxibustion, the second was elixir, and the third was epiphyllum. Moxa is moxibustion. The raw material used in moxibustion is made of mugwort. Mugwort, also known as Bingtai, is produced on the sunny side of the mountain, fully absorbing the essence of the sun and is a pure Yang plant. Mugwort contains a variety of minerals, vitamins, proteins, fats, water, anti-aging and anti-cancer selenium and a large number of pharmacological components. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-stasis, asthma, cough and sedative effects. Mugwort leaves contain absinthol and absinthone, which have the effects of antipyretic, hemostatic, analgesic and excitatory to the central nervous system. Moxibustion is a method of removing disease and evil by bringing the medicinal power of mugwort through acupuncture points and meridians through smoke and fire. Moxibustion is the only discipline among the five mainstream therapies in Chinese medicine that has a combination of physical and pharmacological healing effects. The near-infrared rays released during the process of moxibustion are stronger than the far-infrared rays in regulating the effect of the moxa smoke, which can deliver the active ingredients in the moxa smoke to the internal organs and the foci of disease. Therefore, moxibustion is recognized as the most effective method to replenish yang energy in ancient and modern times. In addition to replenishing yang energy through moxibustion, there are many areas of diet and life that deserve attention! Life health care Professor Huang He experience: walking, jogging are “slow movement”, can make the whole body meridians, blood, bones, muscles move, help regulate the function of the five organs and six internal organs, promote metabolism. However, exercise should pay attention to the right amount, do not exceed their body’s ability to bear, young and strong people can exercise more, the elderly are suitable for walking, jogging, taijiquan, self-massage and other slow movement. To maintain a high level of energy, the primary condition is to have a regular life. It is best to go to sleep before 12:00 p.m. 23:00 p.m. to 1:00 midnight, which is the time when the body’s yin and yang meet. This is the time of day when yin is at its peak and yang is at its weakest. The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine says, “When the yang energy is exhausted, you sleep; when the yin energy is exhausted, you sleep.” Therefore, this is the best time to sleep. That is, we should learn to follow the changes of yin and yang of nature day and night. If you continue to stay up late, or go to sleep after 1:00 midnight, you will deplete the body’s yang energy, and the next day there is not enough yang energy to fight the spirit. Even if you sleep until 10 o’clock the next day, you will not be able to make up for it. 80% of modern people have insufficient yang energy – all diseases are lost in one yuan of yang energy, how to support yang and strengthen the foundation? In life, we have to change some of our habits that hurt Yang Qi. In summer, you often drink cold drinks, blow air conditioners, and sleep in the rain, it is easy to suffer from diseases that hurt Yang, such as colds, diarrhea, rheumatism, etc. By the same token, if you dress too thickly in winter, live in a greenhouse for a long time, sweat profusely or use too much spicy heat, you will often suffer from diseases that hurt yin, such as sore throat, loss of appetite, abdominal distension, etc. You should eat more warm food, such as beef, mutton, shrimp, loach, eels. The human health of the “three yang Kai Tai” “three yang Kai Tai” from the “I Ching” sixty-four hexagrams in the Tai Gua. The ancients found that the day is the shortest on the winter solstice, and then the day is gradually longer, so it is believed that the winter solstice is “one yang born”, December is “two yang born”, and the first month is “three yang Kai Tai”. The “three yang” means that the yin is gradually leaving and the yang is beginning to grow, and everything is reviving after the winter. Kaitai” means good luck and good fortune will come soon. There is also a similar gradual process of Yang Qi rising in the human body, which is called the “three Yang Kai Tai” of human health, that is, moving is rising Yang, good can rise Yang, and happy can rise Yang. The famous doctor Hua Tuo of the Three Kingdoms period created the “Five Animal Play” has a famous saying: “move and shake the grain gas, blood circulation, disease shall not be born”, people just move, shake, then the blood circulation, all diseases do not arise. People who learn Five Animal Play know this phrase, but they do not know the real meaning of this phrase. Shaking is the best interpretation of moving is rising Yang. Modern society is dominated by mental work, people mostly shake the spirit, not move the body. Sitting in the office at work, going out in the car, going home and sitting on the sofa to watch half a night of television, the vast majority of the day is sitting, not moving Yang is not allowed to rise, Qi and blood are stagnant, how can the body not be sick in the long run? Shaking the spirit of loss is our yang, shaking the body can rise Yang, so in order to be healthy, you must first let the body move. There is a saying in Chinese medicine: “When the sun shines, the gloom disperses itself.” If you have a serious deficiency of yang energy in your body and too much yin energy, you can choose some soft and soothing traditional gong methods, such as health piles, five-animal play, eight-danjin, taijiquan, etc. There is a standard for exercise, that is, the heart does not beat violently, the body slightly sweating and heating is appropriate, excessive exercise will instead harm the body. Goodness can ascend the Yang The Taoist masterpiece “Tai Shang Induction” has three definitions of “goodness”: the first is the goodness of speech; the second is the goodness of vision, and the third is the goodness of action. For example, if the child does not do well in the exam this year, and the child is not happy about not doing well in the exam, if the parent who can educate the child, he will not blame the child, but use encouragement and encouragement to build up the child’s confidence, and smart children are exaggerated, so that the child will become more and more intelligent. In fact, in reality, many accomplished people mostly grow up with compliments from their parents and friends and relatives. Inspired by this affirmative yang language, one’s yang energy will continue to be raised and the body and mind will develop in a balanced way. As the ancients say, “A good word warms the heart in three winters”, which is the truth that a good word rises Yang. To see good, is to let the eyes often to see beautiful things. Scenic mountains and rivers are the great beauty of the world, so people who live in the world should often go out to see, so as to nourish the eyes and adjust the mind. The process of getting close to nature is also the process of exchanging energy with heaven and earth and raising Yang energy. Speaking of visual good, a German scientist did an experiment, the results prove that men look beautiful women, if you look on 5 minutes a day, can extend the life of 10 years, women look handsome men can also extend life. So, when shopping to see the passing beauty, handsome men, nourish the eyes, I think, this is also a kind of visual good it. The eyes are the window to the soul, what the eyes see will in turn affect the soul, life do not always see the dark side of society, life, everything to see more sunshine, the positive side. In this way, you can see goodness everywhere without deliberately pursuing it. What is doing goodness? In our daily life, we can see many examples of this. For example, if a person is pulling a cart with coal or other goods and can’t get up a high slope, then you help him to push, and after he crosses the slope, the cart puller will turn around and say thank you. What is the feeling in your heart at this time? You will definitely feel warm, this warmth is the expression of Yang Qi rising. The act of helping others in daily life is actually doing good deeds. The Book of Rites? The book of “Rites of Passage” says: “The world is a public place,” whether it is good words, good vision or good deeds, are talking about doing things to get rid of selfish desires, the heart is bright and open, more for the sake of others, the tired in the body warm feeling in the heart, but also to prolong the life of the disease. The ancient saying is that joy is the birth of Yang energy. It should be very good to do in life, think more happy things, watch some cheerful entertainment programs, listen to their favorite songs, read their favorite books, do more of their favorite things in their spare time, can make people’s Yang Qi rise. The most typical application of joy to raise yang is “punching joy”. According to Taoist medicine, “punching joy” is a very brilliant way to raise Yang, because what is washed away from the body is evil qi, and what is returned is positive qi. People who have been ill for a long time or who have been in poor health for a long time, intentionally organize some happy events, which are very helpful to their condition. In fact, the happy event is to change the physical and mental state of the patient with the help of the external environment. In ancient times, people who only have joy but not sorrow were called gods. Joy is a great state of life, and being able to maintain a joyful heart is more useful for nourishing the body than taking any elixir. Destiny is something that everyone wants to grasp and change throughout their lives. From a medical point of view, destiny gives each person a more tangible meaning that can be grasped. A strong Yang energy is not only safe from disease and evil, but it also makes one’s spirit calm and happy, and one’s heart happy. Therefore, the best way to change one’s destiny is to raise Yang energy.
