Is eye strabismus hereditary?

Genetic factors play a role in the pathogenesis of strabismus, but are not a major factor. Strabismus is not a simple single-gene genetic disorder, so there is no way to accurately project the risk of inheriting strabismus in offspring. Only a few common strabismus may have a genetic component, while many types of strabismus are not strongly related to genetics, such as paralytic strabismus and restrictive strabismus, which have little to do with genetics. Therefore, when strabismus occurs, it is recommended to visit an ophthalmologist for further management.
