What causes cupping to bleed?

Cupping is one of the traditional physiotherapy methods in Chinese medicine. Bleeding after cupping is mainly due to the negative pressure inside the can produced during cupping, which will cause the tiny capillaries under the skin to rupture. After cupping will leave red or black-red can marks on the skin, which is a kind of localized skin bleeding, Chinese medicine practitioners can use the bleeding or blood stasis of cupping to further identify the disease, such as the blood color is purple and black, suggesting that there is blood stasis for a long time, stasis blocking the veins and collaterals; while the blood viscous thick suggests that there is stagnation of dampness and toxin. The Chinese medicine practitioner will do further symptomatic treatment according to the identification. However, it should be noted that cupping must go to a regular Chinese medicine clinic or Chinese medicine hospital, operated by a professional Chinese medicine practitioner, and follow the doctor’s instructions to do a good job of skin care after cupping, such as disinfecting the skin at the bleeding place to avoid infection.
