Can mid-stage prostate cancer be cured?

Intermediate prostate cancer is usually difficult to be cured, but some patients can be clinically cured after active treatment, with a 5-year survival rate of 75.8% according to some studies. Intermediate prostate cancer is usually found in stage II and some stage III patients, and the tumor is confined to the prostate gland or has invaded into the seminal vesicles, but has not yet shown lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis. At this time, radical surgical resection is usually recommended, and local radiotherapy and endocrine therapy are given to improve the prognosis of patients according to the situation after surgery. The prognosis of malignant tumors is usually evaluated by 3/5 years survival rate. The prognosis of prostate cancer is closely related to the age at first diagnosis, PSA level at first diagnosis, Gleason total score and distant metastasis of the cancer, etc.; some studies say that the 1-, 3- and 5-year overall survival rates of prostate cancer patients are 96.0%, 87.3% and 78.9%, respectively. A domestic study said that the overall 5-year biochemical-free recurrence rate, distant metastasis-free rate, tumor-specific survival rate and overall survival rate of T3a prostate cancer patients were 44.1%, 68.6%, 82.4% and 75.8%, respectively. If prostate cancer is suspected or diagnosed, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for comprehensive assessment of the disease and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid delaying the disease.
