What does autism mean?

Autism, also known as autism, is a psychiatric disorder caused by the interaction of environmental and genetic factors on the central nervous system. Autism starts in infancy and early childhood and is mainly characterized by social interaction disorders (lack of response to calls, avoidance of others’ gaze, lack of interest in interacting with others), language developmental disorders, stereotyped behaviors (rigidity and rigidity in daily life), and narrowed interests (disinterest in games and toys), and may be accompanied by mental developmental delays (imbalance in the development of intelligence). The cause of autism is not yet clear, but may be related to genetic factors, environmental factors, and abnormal brain development. Current treatment methods include medication such as antipsychotics (risperidone, aripiprazole, etc.), medication for attention deficit disorder (methylphenidate, atomoxetine, etc.), and antidepressants (sertraline, clomipramine, etc.). There are also rehabilitation training, psychotherapy and so on. Specific treatment should be carried out under the guidance of specialized doctors. Most of the patients’ symptoms can be gradually reduced after active treatment of this disease. Some patients are prone to psychological and behavioral complications during adolescence. It is recommended that patients seek early consultation and standardized treatment under the guidance of professional doctors to avoid aggravation of the disease.
