Patients with atopic dermatitis should be careful to avoid rubbing and scratching the skin on the affected side. Emollients can be used after bathing to repair the skin barrier and so on. Patients with severe symptoms can use topical glucocorticoids such as external hydrocortisone ointment, or calcium-modulated phosphatase inhibitors such as tacrolimus cream. Patients with severe itching symptoms can take oral antihistamines such as loratadine and cetirizine.
