RS3PE syndrome is a variant type of rheumatoid arthritis. Clinical manifestations are symmetric polyarthritis and depressed edema of the extremities. Treatment is with glucocorticoids such as prednisone. RS3PE syndrome refers to remitting seronegative symmetric synovitis with depressed edema syndrome, which is a specific type of rheumatoid arthritis that tends to occur in older men and is characterized by symmetric polyarthritis and depressed edema of the extremities, synovial vascular proliferation leading to synovitis, and increased vascular permeability causing subcutaneous edema. Seronegative synovitis with depressed edema syndrome requires prompt medical examination and treatment, which usually involves the use of low-dose glucocorticoid drugs, such as prednisone and dexamethasone. If there are other co-morbidities, targeted treatment is required. It is recommended that patients with RS3PE syndrome go to the hospital in time to avoid delays.
