Effects of leuprolide acetate

Leuprolide acetate is an agonist of gonadotropin-releasing hormone. Its main action is to inhibit the secretion of gonadotropins by the pituitary gland, resulting in a decrease in hormone levels in the ovaries and temporary amenorrhea. It is mainly used in clinical practice for the treatment of endometriosis, adenomyosis, post-operative chocolate cysts of the ovaries, etc. The specific method of use is: Leuprolide 3.75mg, injected subcutaneously on the first day of menstruation, once every 28 days, for a total of 3-6 times as a course of treatment. The effect of the medication is better, but patients may experience side effects, such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, loss of libido and osteoporosis, and other perimenopausal clinical symptoms. Therefore, it is recommended that patients can take reverse hormone addition during the medication. Haumeaestrol 0.625 mg plus methacholine 2 mg once daily can be used. These symptoms usually disappear after discontinuation of the drug and the reverse hormone addition needs to be stopped.
