Are multiple fibrous foci in both lungs serious?

The severity of multiple fibrotic foci in both lungs is related to the etiology causing the fibrotic foci or the size of the fibrotic foci.
1. Causes of fibrotic foci: Inflammation of the lungs or tuberculosis can cause fibrotic foci. Inflammatory exudate will appear in the lung infection, and when the infection heals, fibrous foci will form, i.e., scarring. Bacterial cultures and drug sensitivity tests should be performed in a timely manner, and appropriate antibiotics, antiviral drugs, or antituberculosis drugs should be used to treat the condition, which usually has a better prognosis and is usually not serious. If the infection spreads without timely treatment, it will be more serious.
2. The size of the fibrous foci: When the fibrous foci are small, other parts of the lung can compensate for the fibrosis, and the impact on the patient is small. When the fibrous foci are large, the function of the lungs is not compensated, which will have a serious impact on the respiratory function, and need to be treated with drugs such as pirfenidone and dextromethorphan hydrobromide syrup. In severe cases, lung transplantation is required.
It should be noted that when the above symptoms occur, you should promptly go to the hospital for examination and treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
