Why is liposuction not equivalent to weight loss?

Liposuction is not about weight loss, and this is a concept that must be understood. The purpose of weight loss is to “improve the overall obesity and health of the body indicators”, while liposuction only plays the role of “body reshaping, beautiful shape”. There is a fundamental difference between the two. Even if it is a huge amount of liposuction, only a few thousand milliliters (equal to a few kilograms) can be pumped at a time, and it is not a treatment of all the fat in the body, so the weight change is not big. At the same time, it is not true that you will get thinner and thinner after a few more times of liposuction. After a few times of liposuction, the fat cells become less and less and cannot be pumped anymore. The results of localized shaping after liposuction may also be repeated. For example, if there are 1,000 fat cells and 500 are removed by liposuction, only half of the volume will remain. However, if you eat more and gain weight again, the 500 fat cells will still expand to the volume of 1000 fat cells. Second, liposuction cannot eliminate various diseases caused by obesity. Some studies have concluded that liposuction only relatively reduces the accumulation of fat and reduces the burden on the body. However, there is no clear improvement in the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes caused by obesity. Liposuction removes only part of the subcutaneous fat, which has precisely the least impact on the health of the body. The fat that affects the health of the body is mainly accumulated in areas inside the body that are not easily accessible by suction. Therefore, liposuction is mainly a surgical procedure to eliminate excess fat in certain parts of the body and is a sculpting of the body shape for the purpose of improving the figure, which is completely different from weight loss.
