Testicular ultrasound steps

Clinically testicular ultrasound is called scrotal ultrasound. Scrotal ultrasonography includes four steps: scrotal exsanguination, application of coupling agent, longitudinal segmental sweep, and transverse sweep. 1. Scrotal leakage: firstly, the patient needs to lie flat on the examination bed and expose the scrotum. 2. Application of coupling agent: the coupling agent is then applied to the scrotum. 3. Longitudinal sweep: the testicle is properly immobilized with the left hand’s index finger and thumb for longitudinal multiplanar sweep to show the ultrasound structure of the testicle, the caudal part of the epididymis and part of the spermatic cord. 4. Transverse scanning: transverse scanning of both sides, observe the scrotal skin, testis and epididymis morphology, size, internal echoes, observe whether there is fluid in the sheath cavity around the testis and whether the echoes are normal or not. It is recommended that patients go to regular hospitals for testicular ultrasound examination, do not be too nervous during the examination, pay attention to local hygiene, operate according to the requirements of professional doctors, and consult the doctor in time if there is any abnormality.
