When needling the Baihui point, it should be stabbed flat.
Baihui point, also known as Sanyang Wuhui, Tianman, and Peak, is located 5 inches above the anterior median line, on the median line, belonging to the Directing Vessel, and has the effect of benefiting qi and elevating yang (tonifying qi in order to make yang qi rise), and waking up and opening up the brain, and can be used in clinics for treating dementia, stroke, epilepsy, and other psychosomatic illnesses, as well as treating qi subluxation such as prolapse of the anus and gastric ptosis.
When needling this point, the technique of flat stabbing should be adopted, with a depth of 0.5-0.8 inches. Moxa stick moxibustion or moxa cone moxibustion can also be adopted, but care should be taken to avoid burning the hair by paying attention to the distance.
The contraindications for this point are unclear, and most people, for the most part, can have acupuncture at this point. Patients should go to the hospital if they need to undergo treatment.
