What if there’s a small piece left over from a tooth extraction?

If the tooth is not extracted cleanly and a small piece is left, it can be extracted under surface anesthesia when the position is shallow, and when the position is deeper, it is usually necessary to take pictures and analyze them, and consider local anesthesia for extraction or observation treatment.
1. Shallow position: If the tooth is not extracted cleanly, left a small piece, but visible to the naked eye, and the volume is not large, you can go to the hospital stomatology to find a doctor to apply surface anesthesia cream and directly remove the remaining teeth, and then use cotton rolls to stop the bleeding compression.
2. Deeper position: If the residual tooth is deeper, we should go to the hospital to take apical radiographs or CT images to diagnose the position and size of the residual tooth, and then carry out local infiltration anesthesia or block anesthesia after analysis, and then turn over the gums to remove the broken root using instruments such as the apical tappet.
3. Observation: If a piece of the wisdom tooth root is not extracted, or if the remaining root is close to important anatomical structures such as the inferior alveolar nerve canal or the maxillary sinus, and considering the difficulty of removing the remaining root and the possibility that the root may be dislocated, self-observation can be considered first, without other special treatment.
