The sequelae of novel coronavirus pneumonia are unclear. Some studies have shown that the majority of infected patients have a favorable prognosis, but some severely ill patients may have some degree of cognitive impairment (e.g., inattention), psychiatric disorders (e.g., dizziness; drowsiness), and somatic dysfunction (e.g., anxiety, insomnia). Novel coronavirus mainly refers to novel coronavirus pneumonia, which is an inflammation of the lungs caused by coronaviruses and is contagious. Some studies have shown that most patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia have a favorable prognosis based on the current treatment effects, while a few patients may experience sequelae, such as some degree of cognitive, psychiatric, and somatic dysfunction in severe and critically ill patients. The common ones are as follows: 1. Cognitive disorders: a certain degree of sensory dullness, attention disorders (e.g., inattention), and memory loss. 2. Mental disorders: some degree of dizziness, headache, drowsiness, depression, irritability, etc. 3. Physical dysfunction: some degree of dizziness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, anxiety, insomnia and other phenomena. The above evidence on the sequelae of new coronavirus pneumonia is still insufficient, and more clinical studies are needed to verify. Tip: The terms “new coronavirus pneumonia” and “new coronavirus pneumonia” mentioned in this article have been renamed to “new coronavirus infection” on December 26, 2022, as announced by the National Health Commission.
