Mastering the rescue and treatment of convulsions

Most common childhood febrile convulsions occur in children aged 2 to 5 years, and they occur early in the fever (usually within 12 hours, not more than 24 hours) when the body temperature rises sharply. Before and after the onset of convulsions, the child is generally in good condition and recovers consciousness soon after the attack without other neuropsychiatric signs. In fact, the majority of convulsive episodes are of very short duration and most have resolved by the time medical personnel arrive. Therefore, parents of infants and young children should be properly instructed in the treatment of convulsions at the scene, so that they can master the following essentials: 1. Do not rush to the hospital. Otherwise, there is a risk of asphyxiation due to improper handling position, increasing the risk of life. 2, the child is convulsing flat, tilt the head to the side, so as not to accidentally inhale the secretions out of the mouth caused by asphyxiation. 3.To prevent the child from asphyxiation by accidental inhalation, family members or rescuers should always guard the child and wipe away the exudate at any time. 4. Do not stimulate the child as much as possible, and do not force any objects into the child’s mouth. 5.For children whose seizures do not relieve for several minutes or who have a history of persistent convulsions, call for help at the same time as taking the above measures. 6. Closely observe the characteristics of the convulsive seizure. Because of the detailed description of the seizure for the above methods to look after the patient, do a good job on the scene rescue, keep breathing, you can make it safe through the seizure, and then after the seizure according to the situation further diagnosis and treatment.
