Why blood sugar is higher in hot weather

Hot weather does not usually cause blood sugar to rise directly, so there is no such thing as “why is your blood sugar higher when it’s hot”. There is generally no direct causal relationship between temperature and blood sugar, so hot or cold weather does not directly cause blood sugar to rise or fall. If blood glucose rises after hot weather, it may be due to poor dietary control because patients with high blood glucose eat a lot of ice cream, cold drinks and other sugary foods after the temperature rises, which in turn causes blood glucose to rise. When a patient with hyperglycemia experiences elevated blood glucose after hot weather and still cannot control his/her blood glucose after strict dietary control, it is recommended to go to the hospital to clarify the cause of the elevated blood glucose and adjust the treatment plan under the guidance of the doctor.
