How long do the eggs survive after they are expelled?

Normally, a mature egg can survive for about 2 days after expulsion. During this time, if a sperm is encountered and fertilized properly, a fertilized egg will form and develop into a fetus. If no sperm is encountered, the egg will lose its ability to fertilize and die in about 2 days. Women of childbearing age normally have one follicle that matures and ovulates each month, 14 days before their next menstrual period. Ovulation in women usually occurs 5 days before and 4 days after the day of ovulation, which is about 10 days. The egg survives in the body for about 24 hours after being expelled from the ovary, with a maximum life span of 48 hours, and waits in the pelvic cavity for the sperm to enter, while the sperm survives in the woman’s body for about 2-3 days. Those who are willing to conceive can have intercourse within 2-3 days before and after ovulation to increase their chances relatively. In addition, women who wish to conceive are advised to have intercourse on alternate days 4-5 days before and after ovulation to increase the chances of conception.
