Why do you get chest pains when you’re cold?

Chest pain when cold may be caused by stomach cramps, stomach ulcer, angina, intercostal neuralgia and other diseases.
1. Stomach cramps: Cold may cause the stomach muscles to twitch and convulse, which may be followed by pain in the epigastric region causing chest pain.
2. Gastric ulcer: Gastric ulcer is a kind of peptic ulcer, which may have a stress reaction after being exposed to cold and cause an attack, which may cause pain in the chest, accompanied by gastric distension, indigestion, nausea, vomiting and other manifestations.
3. Angina pectoris: angina pectoris is mainly characterized by episodes of chest pain or chest discomfort. When the weather is cold, the oxygen consumption of the heart muscle increases, which may cause transient insufficient blood supply to the heart, resulting in angina pectoris and chest pain, accompanied by tightness in the chest, sweating, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, or difficulty in breathing, and other symptoms.
4. Intercostal neuralgia: local inflammation or viral infection can cause intercostal neuralgia, which manifests as pain in a strip-like area along the intercostal space. Cold, flu and overwork are the common triggering factors of intercostal neuralgia.
The above situations must be timely medical treatment, follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
