Do you need surgery to remove the tube from the abdominal dialysis?

Removal of the drainage tube from the abdominal peritoneum requires surgery, but the anesthetic and surgical approach are different. If the tube is not adherent to the omentum and intestinal canal in the abdominal cavity, the scar tissue is usually removed under local anesthesia, and the tube is then removed, followed by suturing and dressing changes. However, if the abdominal adhesions are severe and the omentum is wrapping the peritoneal tube, the procedure may have to be performed under lumbar anesthesia. If the patient requires a minimally invasive procedure for aesthetic reasons, a laparoscopic exploration can be performed under general anesthesia to treat the adhesions in the drainage tube and the omentum, and then the tube can be removed. So the specific way to remove the tube needs to be decided according to the patient’s condition, which can be consulted and communicated with the attending surgeon of the procedure.
