Is fasting blood sugar 5.7 serious?

Fasting blood glucose is the blood glucose measured when no food containing any calories has been eaten for at least 8 hours. Whether fasting blood glucose of 5.7 mmol/L is normal or not involves whether it is fingertip blood glucose or venous blood glucose. If it is venous blood glucose, 5.7 mmol/L is within the standard range and is not considered serious. Fasting venous blood glucose between 3.9-6.1mmol/L is considered normal, so 5.7mmol/L is not a problem. However, if it is fingertip blood glucose, we have to consider whether the blood glucose meter is accurate or not, and cannot directly determine whether it is normal or not. Therefore, it is recommended to draw venous blood to the hospital to measure blood glucose on a really empty stomach, and to measure blood glucose through a normal biochemical meter, and if it is 5.7mmol/L, it is considered normal.
