Can a perianal abscess be cured by aspiration?

Patients with perianal abscesses who choose to have their pus extracted cannot be completely cured of the disease; this puncture to extract the pus is only a way to obtain a diagnosis. The most effective treatment for perianal abscesses is to perform incision and drainage to drain the pus, and to perform smear and culture determination of the pus for targeted anti-infective treatment. At the same time, the pus cavity should be thoroughly explored during surgery to find the exact internal opening to avoid the formation of anal fistula after surgery, because perianal abscesses are most often transformed by recurrent inflammation of the anal sinus, so the internal opening should be performed during surgery if necessary, or wire therapy should be performed. The procedure should be done on a regular basis to promote wound healing, and each change should be thorough to avoid leaving a residual cavity that could complicate the formation of an anal fistula after surgery.
