Can you breastfeed with hypothyroidism?

Hypothyroidism, or hypothyroidism, can usually be breastfed. It is recommended that mothers with hypothyroidism be treated with medication as prescribed by the doctor while breastfeeding. Mothers with hypothyroidism can breastfeed normally because the amount of thyroid hormone secreted into the breast milk during breastfeeding is relatively low and usually does not suppress the baby’s thyroid stimulating hormone secretion or cause the baby to develop hyperthyroidism. Mothers with hypothyroidism need to use medications that promote thyroid hormone secretion, such as levothyroxine sodium tablets and thyroxine tablets, under a doctor’s supervision while breastfeeding. Although mothers with hypothyroidism can breastfeed normally, it is recommended that the patient should consult a doctor in a timely manner, and need to choose the appropriate measures for treatment under the guidance of the doctor, and should not use medication on their own, in order to avoid adverse effects.
