How to test for anemia

To test for anemia, we need to get up in the morning and go to the hospital on an empty stomach to draw blood from a vein or collect finger blood for routine blood tests. In adult men, anemia is usually diagnosed with a hemoglobin of <130 g/L, and in adult women, anemia is usually diagnosed with a hemoglobin of <120 g/L. In addition, there are three other blood tests: mean red blood cell volume, red blood cell hemoglobin content, and mean red blood cell hemoglobin concentration, which can be used to classify anemia into macrocytic anemia, normocytic anemia, and small cell hypochromic anemia based on cell dosimetry.
