Is it harmful to induce vomiting once in a while?

It is not harmful to induce vomiting once in a while, but it is not recommended to induce vomiting frequently.
Inducing vomiting is a method of stimulating the throat by physical means such as using fingers or chopsticks, causing a gag reflex which in turn causes vomiting. When emetic may be due to acid reflux stimulation of the esophagus, the esophageal mucosa caused by damage, the patient may be manifested as heartburn, pain and discomfort in the throat and so on. But most of them can be relieved. So it doesn’t matter if you vomit once in a while.
However, if you vomit for a long time, the long-term gastric acid will stimulate the esophageal mucosa, which may cause esophagitis. In addition, if the vomiting is intense, it may cause cardia mucous membrane tear, the patient may be manifested as blood in the vomit or gastrointestinal hemorrhage, etc. The vomit may cause aspiration pneumonia, and in serious cases, it may even cause asphyxiation. Therefore, it is recommended not to vomit too often.
