Criteria for grading muscle tone

The grades of muscle tone are categorized into 0-4, and the specific grading criteria are as follows: First, grade 0, such patients have no increase or decrease in muscle tone, which is normal. Second, grade 1, this kind of patient’s muscle tone is mildly increased, however, there is no abnormality in the first half of the range of motion of the joints, and only in the second half of the activity will suddenly appear muscle tone increase, however, this kind of increase occurs in a relatively short period of time, and may disappear suddenly if the activity is continued. Grade 3, 2, this patient’s muscle tone is relatively Grade 1, there is a part of the increase, the range of increased muscle tone accounted for most of the joint mobility. Grade 4 and 3, these patients have a very marked increase in muscle tone and a marked increase in muscle tone over most of the range of joint motion. However, these patients are still able to do passive activities, that is, there is still some mobility when their joints are examined. In grade 5 or 4, the patient has complete rigidity of the limb and there is no mobility in the joints.
