Maitong, also known as Maimendong, is the same medicine that moistens the lungs and clears the heart, and nourishes the yin and promotes the production of fluids.
Mai Dong can moisten the lungs and clear the heart, and has a therapeutic effect on hoarseness, sore throat, phlegm sticky and difficult to cough up, dry throat and mouth caused by insufficient lung yin; it can also clear the heart and eliminate annoyance, and has a relieving effect on insomnia, palpitation and forgetfulness caused by deficiency of yin and excessive fire.
Maitong can nourish yin and promote the production of fluids, for the deficiency of lung yin dry cough, coughing up blood, lung carbuncle, nosebleed, nasal abyss (mainly manifested as nasal mucus obscene, the amount of wiping unclean) and so on have a relieving effect; but also to relieve the internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by more food, more drinking, more urine and other symptoms), intestinal dryness, constipation, fluid damage to the eructation (hiccups), vomiting, and so on.
Maitake should not be used if there is phlegm-dampness in the spleen and wind-cold cough. Adverse effects are not exact and should be taken under the guidance of a doctor.
