Causes of cerebellar tentorial herniation

Cerebellopontine hernia is a type of brain hernia, which is a series of pathological syndromes caused by various craniocerebral pathologies, such as craniocerebral trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, and brain tumors, resulting in an increase in intracranial pressure and a displacement of brain tissues from a place of high cranial pressure to a place of low cranial pressure. Cerebellar hernia refers to the herniation of the brain tissue of the temporal lobe, mainly the hippocampus and the sulcus, from the cerebellar fissure under the cerebellar vermis after the occurrence of cranial hypertension, and it is called cerebellar hernia. Its main clinical manifestations are patients with impaired consciousness, pupil changes and paralysis of the opposite side of the limbs, and if the lesion continues to develop, the patient will be in deep coma, pupil dilation, and even life-threatening.
