How to check for adenoids

Adenoids can be examined by fiberoptic nasopharyngoscopy as well as X-ray, CT and MRI.
1. Fiberoptic nasopharyngoscopy: adenoids are located in the posterior and parietal walls of the nasopharynx. Fiberoptic nasopharyngoscopy reveals congestion and swelling in acute adenoiditis, exudates, and swelling and congestion of the mucous membranes of the nose and oropharynx; and it can also determine the degree of hypertrophy of adenoids and the degree of obstruction of the posterior nasal aperture.
2. X-ray: Nasopharyngeal lateral X-ray can observe the size of adenoids and the width of nasopharyngeal airway.
3. CT and MRI: can also be used to determine the size of adenoids and to identify sinusitis, nasopharynx, nasopharyngeal tumors and adenoidal diseases.
4. Polysomnography: It can check whether there is sleep apnea or hypoventilation caused by adenoid hypertrophy.
Generally, adenoid disease occurs more often than children, if children snoring, open-mouth breathing, etc. should consult the doctor in time to check whether there is nasopharyngeal disease.
