Geneva Protocols on Medical Ethics (adopted by the World Medical Association in 1949) I solemnly swear to dedicate my life to the service of humanity. I give my teachers my respect and gratitude. They have earned them. I exercise my profession with conscience and dignity. My first consideration is the health of my patients. I respect the confidentiality of all those who trust me. I will do everything in my power to preserve the honor and noble traditions of the medical profession. My colleagues are my brothers. No consideration of religion, nationality, race, political party or social affiliation will be allowed to interfere with my duties and my patients. Even when threatened, I will do my utmost to respect human life from the fetus onwards and will never use my medical knowledge to violate humane regulations. I solemnly, autonomously and on my honor make the above pledge.
