How to read drug instructions

It is important to follow medical advice before taking a medication. Not reading or understanding the drug instructions can pose a hidden danger to the safe use of medication. Therefore, it is important for patients to learn to read the drug instructions before taking a medication. How to read the drug instructions? First: you should know the ingredients of the drug. Because different manufacturers of drugs with the same ingredients often have different trade names, if you only pay attention to the trade name, you may take the same drug from different manufacturers at the same time, resulting in an overdose. For example, a patient, who took both Baxin and Cardiac Pain, made his blood pressure drop too low, when in fact, the ingredients of these two drugs are the same. Second: Indications and contraindications should be understood. This will not be a major problem if the prescription of the physician is followed. If the patient is shopping for the drug himself, he should pay particular attention to whether the drug is suitable for his condition and whether there are other conditions that prevent him from taking the drug, such as allergies, and so on. However, sometimes there are exceptions, because the accumulation of clinical experience, may find some new therapeutic effects of drugs, but the instructions do not mention this use, because this therapeutic effect has not been recognized by the management, so the drug instructions exist “lag” phenomenon. For example, “Betaloc” is now used for the treatment of heart failure, but the instructions clearly state that it is a contraindication. Therefore, some doctors ask patients to take the drug, but patients dare not take it after reading the instructions. Third: The dosage and usage of the drug should be clarified. To do this, one should know the specifications of the drug used, that is, the dosage of a piece of medicine. Even the specifications of the same drug from the same manufacturer may be different, for example, aspirin tablets, some contain only 25 mg, some are 300 mg, a difference of more than ten times. Only know to take one or two tablets, easy to lead to adverse consequences. Fourth: should be aware of the adverse drug reactions. Many drugs may have different degrees of adverse reactions, but in general, the proportion of adverse reactions is not very high. Even if a particular adverse reaction is only one in 10,000 possible, for the patient responsible for the factory must also be marked in the instructions. However, many patients in this point of misunderstanding, as long as the use of the drug, the adverse reactions listed on the instructions will definitely appear, so that this drug also dare not use, that drug also dare not use, the result of the delay in the treatment of the disease. However, this is not the case, if this is the case, this drug simply can not be introduced. Fifth: precautions this one should be read carefully. Some drugs are better used before a meal, while others should be taken better after a meal. Some should be reviewed regularly after use. Also understand whether there is any conflict between taking the drug and the drugs already in use, so as not to reduce the effect of the drug and may lead to overdose and contraindications.
