Radix Paeoniae Alba has the effects of clearing heat and cooling blood (relieving blood heat by clearing heat); Radix et Rhizoma Ginger has the effects of warming the middle Jiao and dispersing cold (dispersing cold evils by warming the spleen and stomach); Radix Gui Zhi has the effects of sweating and detoxifying the muscles (relieving evils on the surface of the skin); and Mucuna Pruriens has the effects of promoting circulation of qi and relieving pain (relieving pain by regulating the qi system of the human body). 1. Radix Paeoniae Alba: clearing heat and cooling the blood, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain. It can be used in treating blood-heat epistaxis (vomiting of blood and nosebleed due to blood-heat), redness and pain of the eyes, sores and ulcers, menstrual cramps and dysmenorrhea, and so on. 2. Ginger: warming the middle Jiao, dispersing cold, restoring yang, warming the lungs and resolving fluid (promoting the flow of stagnant fluid by warming the lungs). It can be used in treating cold syndrome of the spleen and stomach, characterized by abdominal pain, vomiting, etc.; and Yang-deficient syndrome, characterized by coldness of the extremities (coldness of the limbs, even up to the elbows and above the knees), and a weak and desperate pulse. 3. Gui Zhi: Sweating and relieving the muscles, warming the meridians and opening up the veins, helping Yang to transform Qi, and leveling off the flushing and lowering of Qi, can be used to treat wind-cold and cold. It can be used to treat wind-cold cold and flu, the symptoms caused by cold condensation and blood stagnation; phlegm (pathological products formed by impaired metabolism of water and fluid), edema, and Pengyu qi (gas rushing upward from the abdomen to the chest and throat, like a piglet rushing across the room), and so on. 4. Mucuna pruriens (木香):It moves qi, relieves pain, strengthens the spleen and eliminates food, and can be used to treat abdominal pain and dystocia (pain in the area of the coats of arms and the ribs), and internal urgency and posterior heaviness (discomfort in the lower abdomen, a strong desire to defecate, and a feeling of incomplete defecation after defecation). Adverse effects of Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae, Radix Gingerae, Cinnamon Branches, and Mullein have not been clarified, and are contraindicated in allergic persons, and need to be used under the supervision of a hospital physician.
