Whether to take iodized or non-iodized salt for thyroid nodules depends on the condition. If there are only thyroid nodules without hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, taking iodized salt will not have any effect. If combined with hyperthyroidism, iodized salt is not recommended. Thyroid nodules refer to one or more structurally abnormal masses in the thyroid gland, usually without any symptoms, and more people in China have thyroid nodules, which are also categorized into benign and malignant, with benign nodules accounting for about 90% of the cases. Patients with thyroid nodules should usually develop a good diet, if the thyroid nodules have autonomous function, resulting in hyperthyroidism, it is advisable to “limit iodine diet”, i.e., consume non-iodized salt, avoid eating seafood. If the thyroid nodule has normal function, it is advisable to have an iodine-restricted diet, i.e. consume iodized salt and avoid eating seafood in moderation. If you experience any discomfort, it is recommended that you go to a regular hospital immediately for further consultation and treatment to avoid delaying your condition.
