White peony is used to nourish blood and astringent yin, soften the liver and relieve pain, and calm liver yang, which can be used to treat liver and blood deficiency, liver and spleen disharmony, hyperactivity of liver yang, and blood deficiency and blood stasis. For example, it can be used with Radix Angelicae Sinensis and Radix Rehmanniae to treat a series of diseases caused by deficiency of liver and blood, such as irregular menstruation. When treating liver and spleen disharmony, it is often combined with Chai Hu, Scutellaria and Radix Angelicae Sinensis. In addition, Bai Shao is also commonly used in blood tonics to treat diseases such as liver blood deficiency and functional uterine bleeding.
