Clearing Stomach Huanglian Tablet is a Chinese patent medicine of the class of heat-clearing and detoxification (removing heat and poisonous evils from the body), with the efficacy of clearing stomach and diarrhea (removing stomach fire), detoxifying and subduing swellings. It is mainly used for treating heat accumulation in the stomach, which is mainly manifested as sores on the mouth and tongue, toothache, ulceration or bleeding of the gums, or swelling and pain in the throat, dryness of the mouth, hot and smelly breath, and so on. In this formula, Huanglian, Scutellaria baicalensis, Huangbai clear heat and dry dampness (clearing heat and drying dampness), Xuanshen, Dihuang, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Mudanpi clear heat and cool blood (relieving blood heat by clearing heat), Gypsum, Gardenia, Zhimu, Smallpox Powder clear heat and diarrhea (clearing heat and fire from the body), Lianjiao clear heat and remove toxins, Platycodonopsis dissolve phlegm, ease the pharynx and open the voice, Glycyrrhiza glabra clear heat and resolve toxins, and harmonize the various medicines (harmonizing the properties of different traditional Chinese medicines). The whole formula uses a large number of heat-clearing medicines to clear and diarrhea the stomach fire, and at the same time cools the blood and nourishes the yin, resolves phlegm and relieves the pharynx (removing phlegm evil and clearing the throat). Adverse effects of this product are not known. It should be used with caution for children, pregnant women, the elderly and those with deficiency of spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach). If the number of stools reaches 2~3 times a day after taking the medicine, the dosage should be reduced; more than 3 times should be discontinued and consult a physician.
