LOA fetal position where the baby’s face is facing

LOA fetal orientation is left occipito-anterior position, which is the fetal occipital area on the left front side of the mother’s pelvis, then the fetal face is toward the right rear of the mother’s body. The fetal orientation is the relationship between the first point of fetal exposure and the mother’s body during delivery. The occipital first exposure is the point of indication of the occipital bone, which is divided into left and right occipital anterior positions, and is the most favorable fetal orientation for delivery. The fetal head is the largest during delivery, and it passes through the birth canal first, followed by the delivery of the fetus. The midwife usually judges the fetal orientation by touching the cranial suture of the fetus during vaginal examination when the opening of the uterus is more than 3cm. If the fetus is in the occipital transverse or occipital posterior position, the fetal head can be rotated to the occipital anterior position by changing the position of the mother or by an experienced midwife.
