What are the symptoms of laryngitis?

There are vocal organs present in the larynx, and both acute and chronic laryngitis are characterized by the presence of hoarseness as the main symptom. The voice is produced mainly by the friction of the vocal cords and through the combined action of the various organs of the upper respiratory tract. The primary symptom of any disease of the vocal cords is hoarseness. With laryngitis, there is acute laryngitis and chronic laryngitis. Acute laryngitis is an acute catarrhal inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx, which often occurs after a cold. In addition to hoarseness, there are symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose and pain in the throat; if accompanied by bronchitis, there may be coughing and coughing of phlegm. In case of chronic laryngitis, it is a chronic non-specific inflammation of the larynx, which is mainly caused by hoarseness of the vocal cords after excessive use of the voice; it is also accompanied by symptoms such as discomfort in the larynx, dryness and difficulty in speaking. In acute laryngitis or chronic laryngitis, hoarseness occurs mainly due to congestion and swelling of the vocal cords or hypertrophy of the vocal cords, resulting in a weakening of the original elasticity of the vocal cords. When hoarseness occurs, the main thing to pay attention to is to protect the vocal cords, speak less, not to shout, not to eat spicy and irritating food, and to prohibit smoking and alcohol. Visit the otolaryngology department and undergo active treatment.
