Do not treat hair loss “indiscriminately”

If you lose 100 to 120 hairs a day for more than three months, you are suffering from pathological hair loss and should go to a regular hospital dermatology department as soon as possible so as not to delay the opportunity of treatment. Some patients with hair loss who are eager to save their hair tend to “rush to the doctor”, either by believing in partial prescriptions or the so-called “special drugs”, or by believing in the advertisements of some beauty salons, hair care centers and shampoo products, mistakenly believing that “anti-hair loss” is a beauty treatment. The product advertisements, mistakenly thinking that “anti-hair loss” belongs to the beauty category. Hair loss is mainly divided into two categories: congenital hair loss and acquired hair loss. Acquired hair loss is related to genetics and abnormal androgen metabolism. Therefore, this type of hair loss is also known as androgenetic alopecia. The epidemiological survey of androgenetic alopecia conducted by the People’s Hospital of Peking University in six provinces and cities in China in 2008 showed that the proportion of male alopecia was about 20% and the proportion of female alopecia was about 5%. In addition to early detection and treatment in a regular hospital, the correct approach is to insist on long-term treatment. The treatment of hair loss is a constant battle. Generally speaking, patients with androgenetic alopecia will see results after 6 months of oral finasteride (Bofax), and the best results can be achieved after 1-2 years of continuous treatment.
