Eating a few days after intestinal polyp surgery is affected by a variety of factors, such as the size and type of the polyp, the way the surgery is performed, and whether there is bleeding. Smaller polyps are usually treated with direct electrocautery and can be treated with a liquid and soft diet 6-8 hours after this procedure. If the polyp is slightly large and needs to be removed by thermal biopsy with a small amount of bleeding, or if the polyp is large, it is usually possible to eat after 24-48 hours. In the case of adenomas with more bleeding, EMR and hemostatic forceps may be used, in which case it may take longer than 48 hours or more than three days before eating. Of course there are some special cases, if accompanied by perforation or other conditions, according to the physician’s request.
