How much does an appendiculogram cost?

An appendiculogram costs about$200. Appendicography, also known as barium enema, usually requires a laxative before the imaging to clean out the feces in the colon, and then the barium is instilled through the anus to fill up the entire colon and appendix cavity, and after the filling, an abdominal plain film is taken to find out the barium in the colon and appendix cavity. After 72 hours, another abdominal radiograph will be taken to find out if there is any barium left inside the appendix cavity. If the appendix is normal, the barium in the appendiceal cavity is usually completely drained after 72 hours. If there is still barium residue, it generally indicates chronic appendicitis, and if necessary, an abdominal CT is also needed to exclude cases such as ileal tumor.
