Can you live 20 years with mid to late stage squamous lung cancer?

Survival time of lung squamous cancer patients is related to patient’s condition, treatment method, physical condition, mentality and so on, but the possibility of lung squamous cancer surviving for twenty years in middle and late stages is very small. The prognosis of lung cancer patients depends on whether they can be detected early, diagnosed early and treated timely and reasonably. According to the existing research results, tumor clinicopathological stage, patient’s physical health, age and gender are important prognostic factors; in addition, certain biochemical indexes (e.g., white blood cell count, hypercalcemia, etc.) and the level of blood tumor markers (e.g., SCC) have been proved to have an important correlation with the prognosis of lung cancer patients. Cancer cells have already metastasized in middle and late stage of squamous lung cancer, and the treatment effect is poor, then surgical treatment is needed, and combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which can improve the five-year survival rate, and it is possible for patients to survive for twenty years through treatment. Patients should follow medical advice, have reasonable diet, appropriate exercise, improve their immunity, actively cooperate with doctors for treatment, and have regular review after treatment to prolong the survival time and improve the quality of life.
