Most foods contain some amount of fat, and the main foods with high content are beef fat, lard, butter, sesame seeds and peanuts. Fat is an oily substance and from a nutritional point of view, most foods contain varying degrees of fat. There are two main types of fat sources, namely animal and vegetable. Common animal fats include beef fat (61.4%), lard (99.6%) and cream (97%). Secondly, common plant sources are sesame seeds (39.6%), peanuts (25.4%), walnuts (29.9%), peanut oil (99.9%), rapeseed oil (99.9%) and so on. Besides, some fruits and vegetables also contain small amounts of fat, such as apples (0.2%), lemons (1.2%), winter squash (0.2%), cucumbers (0.2%), and so on. Normally, a moderate intake of foods containing fat on a regular basis is beneficial to the body; fat is an important part of the body’s structure and is involved in energy supply. However, if foods with high fat content are consumed for a long period of time, they are likely to cause obesity or increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to rationalize the diet in daily life to ensure a balanced intake of various nutrients.
