How long does it take to recover from a liver injury

Recovery from liver injury may take anywhere from 1 week, 1 to 2 months, or may not be possible. Acute hepatitis, cholecystitis, etc. may cause mild liver injury, which only takes about 1 week to recover; trauma resulting in liver contusion, liver laceration, etc. may take from 1 to 2 months; severe liver destruction such as cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, etc., usually cannot be recovered. 1.1 weeks or so: acute viral hepatitis, cholecystitis, some liver injury drugs may cause local tissue cell destruction of the liver, resulting in impaired secretion and synthesis, liver cell regeneration function is stronger, after effective control of the damage factors, supplemented with liver-protecting treatment, generally about 1 week can repair apoptotic cells and return to normal. 2.1~2 months: external factors such as trauma and impact can lead to liver injury. If the wound of hepatic contusion is small and the patient has no obvious clinical symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, etc., the patient can recover in about 1 month after conservative treatment; if the wound of hepatic contusion is large or liver rupture occurs, and the blood pressure drops and the vital signs are unstable, the patient will need 2 months or more to recover after surgical repair. 3. Irrecoverable: Cirrhosis leads to the destruction of the normal structure of the liver, which is then replaced by disorganized pseudo lobe and regenerated nodules; hepatocellular carcinoma cells destroy the normal cells, causing them to necrotic and apoptotic. All of the above situations will cause irreversible damage to most of the liver tissues, the liver loses regenerative ability, and is generally irrecoverable. The recovery time of liver injury should be analyzed according to the cause of the disease and the degree of injury, and patients need to follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable and regular treatment. Pay attention to daily rest, eat a light diet, and restore health as soon as possible.
