Can low-differentiated carcinoma of the lung be resected without metastasis?

Whether lung cancer can be surgically resected is mainly related to the tumor stage. It has little correlation with the differentiation degree of the tumor.
For non-small cell lung cancer without metastasis, surgical treatment can be considered, and if it is in early stage, surgical treatment is prioritized. As for patients with progressive lung cancer, the current treatment is based on comprehensive treatment, including preoperative neoadjuvant therapy. And for early stage small cell lung cancer patients, surgical treatment is considered. For other small cell lung cancer patients, chemotherapy and other treatments are considered.
In addition, the surgical treatment of lung cancer should also refer to the patient’s comprehensive physical condition, lung function, etc. For the elderly, if the lung function is poor, the surgical risk is higher and surgical resection is not recommended.
Therefore, whether non-metastatic lung cancer can be treated by surgery should be considered in the light of the pathological type, patient’s physical condition, tumor stage, and so on, to make the final judgment.
