Is the antigen test accurate after drinking?

Drinking alcohol itself does not generally affect antigen testing, and there are different sampling methods for antigen testing, either by collecting a throat swab for antigen testing or by drawing blood for serum antigen testing. For pharyngeal swab collection for antigen detection, alcohol consumption generally does not affect the test results, due to the low concentration of alcohol in drinking wine, which does not inactivate the virus; however, alcohol consumption will dilute the secretions of the pharyngeal mucosa, and the dilution of the pharyngeal mucosal secretions may have an impact on the test results. Therefore, if a throat swab is taken immediately after drinking alcohol and antigen testing is performed, the results of antigen testing may be affected, so alcohol or any liquid beverage should not be consumed within half an hour prior to the collection of the throat swab; for blood sampling for serum antigen testing, drinking alcohol does not generally affect the results of the test.
