What’s wrong with a child’s blue eyes?

The blue color of children’s eyes may be caused by physiological factors, or it may be caused by iron deficiency anemia, congenital glaucoma and other pathological factors.
1. Physiological factors: the child’s sclera is relatively thin, the choroidal vascular plexus may be more obvious, thus appearing blue eyes. This is a normal physiological phenomenon, generally do not need special treatment.
2. Iron deficiency anemia: the sclera of the eye is made up of special substances containing iron, if the child’s body lacks iron, the sclera will become thin, and it will be easy to penetrate the pigment membrane tissue under the sclera, thus the performance of bluish eyeballs occurs.
3. Congenital glaucoma: children with congenital glaucoma can have blue eyes due to the increase of intraocular pressure, which can lead to the enlargement of the eyeball and thinning of the eyeball wall.
It is recommended that children with blue eyes and other discomforts should consult a doctor to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid delaying their condition.
