Do you have to keep taking omalizumab?

Omalizumab does not need to be given all the time and needs to be continued at the discretion of the physician based on therapeutic efficacy and safety. Omalizumab is used to treat allergic asthma and chronic spontaneous urticaria. It may be given intermittently or discontinued completely when the disease is under control. In the event of a relapse, conventional antihistamines may be applied or omalizumab may be re-injected. Clinical trials have demonstrated that omalizumab can be used for long-term treatment, with a minimum of 12 to 16 weeks of treatment before effectiveness is demonstrated. Its efficacy and safety should be evaluated by a physician at 16 weeks of treatment to determine whether to continue administration. Omalizumab should be used under the supervision of a physician and should not be used without authorization.
