Interferon treatment for HPV positivity is effective, but for high-risk HPV, interferon treatment is not 100% effective. High-risk HPV infection can lead to lesions in the cervical epithelium if it continues to infect the cervix. Some high-risk HPV infections can turn negative on their own and some can continue to be infected. Therefore, when a high-risk HPV infection is detected, colposcopy is recommended to find out if there is a lesion on the cervical epithelium through colposcopy. If there is no lesion, regular review should be given and if any abnormal problem is found during the review, it should be dealt with in time so as to eliminate the occurrence of cervical cancer.
